Our colonial realities

In "Our colonial realities" descendants of enslaved people and contract workers are portrayed at 9 different locations, which have a direct link with the colonial past. All locations were (partly) built or constructed with income from the slavery trade. These places are part of daily reality. Together they form our colonial reality. A reality that we know little about. It requires us to reflect on how we relate to this subject and to be aware of the fact that people of color still have to deal with colonial ideas. This series focuses on the stories of how these people give meaning to the colonial past, how it still plays a role in their lives and how they think about the future, and tries to create understanding, acceptance and awareness.
